The Cardiff & Vale Urgent Out Of Hours Service (OOH)

The Urgent Out of Hours (OOH) Service covers the whole of Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan operating three Primary Care Centres based at University Hospital Wales, Cardiff Royal Infirmary and Barry Hospital. The OOH service provides urgent care to over 500,000 patients and operates during the following hours:

  • Weekdays: 18.30pm - 08.00am
  • Friday 18.30pm  – Monday 08.00am
  • 24 hour cover on Bank Holidays

We offer flexible, adhoc and regular sessions across the three centres. We also offer a fully equipped triage suite at Cardiff Royal Infirmary and at the Communications Hub, Barry and OOH vehicles for home visiting.

We have competitive rates, flexible sessions and regular professional development.


The Cardiff & Vale Urgent Primary Care Centres (UPCC)

The UPCC currently operates from 5 centres across Cardiff & Vale and provides in excess of 1000 urgent care appointments per week

There are centres in Cardiff Royal Infirmary, Barry (Porthceri currently but relocating to Barry Hospital) and Cardiff North (Whitchurch Road Surgery). There are also sessions in Eastern Vale and Western Vale clusters

The UPPCs operate:

  • All UPCCs: Mon – Fri 8.30am until 6pm 
  • Barry UPCC only: Saturdays/Bank Holidays (2.00pm – 6.00pm)

We offer flexible, ad hoc and regular sessions across these centres.  We have competitive rates.

If you would like to work for the UPCC service you would need to enrol with the OOH service and you would then be able to view/apply for available UPCC shifts via Rotamaster.
